Cold-Calling and Results: How Persistence Got Me New Clients

cold calling

Cold-calling and sales calls are rarely anyone’s idea of a good time. If you’re like me, the thought of picking up the phone and dialing numbers you’ve never called before can feel like a special kind of torture. I’ve never been a fan of it. It’s awkward, nerve-wracking, and frankly, I’d rather do almost anything else.

But here’s the thing – sometimes, the most uncomfortable experiences lead to the most rewarding outcomes.

Cold-Calling Results

When I first started making cold calls, I was plagued by self-doubt and a gnawing sense of dread. The idea of pitching my services to strangers felt like stepping out of my comfort zone and into a pit of uncertainty. But I knew that if I wanted to grow my business, I had to push through this discomfort.

Persistence became my mantra. I reminded myself that every “no” was just one step closer to a “yes.” Even on the days when the rejections felt particularly discouraging, I forced myself to pick up the phone and dial again. It wasn’t easy, and it certainly wasn’t pleasant, but I kept at it. I embraced the discomfort as part of the journey, knowing that each call, no matter how uncomfortable, was a step toward something greater.

Persistence in Business

And then, it happened. After what felt like countless calls and a fair share of rejection, I finally landed a new client. That one “yes” made all the discomfort and effort worthwhile. It was a reminder that persistence, even in the face of overwhelming discomfort, can lead to incredible results. That new client wasn’t just a win for my business – it was a testament to the power of pushing through the awkward and the uncomfortable.

Reflecting on this experience, I’ve learned that sometimes, the most challenging tasks are the ones that yield the most significant rewards. Embracing discomfort and persisting through the tough moments can lead to breakthroughs and successes that might otherwise be out of reach.

So, if you’re facing something in your business that makes you cringe or feel uneasy, remember that pushing through could very well be the key to unlocking your next big opportunity.

To anyone out there dreading their next cold call or sales pitch, take heart. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable, and it’s okay to struggle. What matters is that you keep going. The discomfort you feel today could very well be the stepping stone to the success you achieve tomorrow.
